With their new album hot off the mastering board, Krishna Booker and D. Booker along with producer Rashid Duke begin a fresh chapter in the Eyedentity story. They have infused a shot of new blood into the band, brandishing a powerful new sound for their fourth CD release.
“Lotus Flows” provides every type of listener with a little something to make them feel like this album was crafted just for them. The group prides themselves in staying true to their forefathers yet explores the modern genres of Hip Hop, Dance Club, R&B, Funk, World Beat, even Rock and Pop, pioneering a unique style of high energy, eclectic and groove-driven music.
They do this by injecting classic styles of global indigenous and ethnic music into their Hip Hop foundation. Jazz and Brazilian are the two types of music that have most influenced the Bookers due to their family elders, Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, George Duke, Airto Moreira, Flora Purim and Walter Booker.
These Jazz legends have never given undeserved credit yet have fully nurtured Eyedentity’s artistic efforts throughout the years. Some of them have even recorded on the group’s previous release, “Third-eye-dentity”. On it you will find, Herbie Hancock, George Duke, Airto, Flora and renowned bassist, Alphonso Johnson. There’s even a guest appearance on their new release by legendary Funk guitarist Wah Wah Watson.
Eyedentity has recently returned from a trip to Brazil where they performed at São Paulo’s VIRADA CULTURAL Festival with Flora Purim & Airto Moreira and at other venues on their own. It was a great success, as was their album release show in Los Angeles. Tracks from the album can be heard on KPFK Pacifica Radio’s “Global Village Show” with host, Sergio Mielniczenko. “Lotus Flows” is now available for purchase at CD Baby, iTunes Music, Amazon.com as well as at other online music stores.
